Fall is in full swing in Los Angeles and so is LA Opera’s 16/17 season. WikiLeaks. Pharaohs. Vampires. There’s something for everyone to see. Here’s a breakdown of all LA Opera offerings over the next few months.
The Source (October 19-23)
The Source is not your typical opera with sweeping music and romantic storylines. It’s about how we interact with the massive amount of information leaked by Chelsea Manning in 2010. The Source shows what opera can be in the digital age and is an experience not to be missed this fall. (If you haven’t purchased tickets, check out Today Tix for last minute offers.)
Nosferatu (October 29-31)
Looking for something to do on Halloween weekend? Look no further than our presentations of classic horror film Nosferatu at Ace Hotel. It’s going to be a bite of a time (pun intended).
Akhnaten (November 5-27)
Philip Glass’s epic Akhnaten opens on November 5 in a stunning new production that bring the spirit of ancient Egypt back in spectacular fashion.
Note: Contains nudity; parental discretion advised.
Wonderful Town (December 2,3, and 4)
Kicking off a three-season celebration leading up to Leonard Bernstein’s 100th birthday, LA Opera presents three semi-staged concert performances of Wonderful Town, a sassy and brassy love letter to the bright lights of New York City.
