LA Opera: By The Numbers

LA Opera wouldn’t exist without its supporters. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, with ticket sales covering only about 40% of our budget, donors make it possible to present world-class opera in Los Angeles. But how exactly are charitable dollars used?

A breakdown of the role your donation plays in bringing our stage to life.

Out of every dollar donated to LA Opera, 80 cents go directly to productions, paying for artists, musicians, stagehands, lighting, costumes, sets, props, and all of our other programming and technical costs. Of the remaining 20 cents, 13 are dedicated to education programs and administration, ensuring LA Opera is running smoothly day-to-day and spreading love of opera to future generations and our community through programs that reach over 135,000 people every year. And the remaining seven cents go to the fundraising efforts that help us fund the 60% of the budget not covered by ticket sales!

So, when Don Carlo fills the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion stage with seventy chorus members, when the LA Opera orchestra begins its powerful opening notes, when Satyagraha’s immersive sets inspire you, when you experience the beauty and grandeur that is opera, you will know that your support made it all possible.

Make a tax-deductible donation today, and your dollar’s impact will DOUBLE in impact, thanks to a generous one-to-one matching grant from the Ann & Gordon Getty foundation. Don’t miss this chance to support LA Opera!
