Heading to one of LA Opera’s live broadcast on Thursday, 10/13? If you haven’t planned to – you should! Whether you’re going to Santa Monica Pier or to South Gate Park to experience the live broadcast of Macbeth starring Plácido Domingo there are a few things you should know about Opera at the Beach and Opera in the Park.
1. It’s FREE.
Yes, that’s right. Both live broadcasts are free, so come early to get the best seats. The event opens at 5:30 pm and the show starts at 7:30 pm.
2. Be Prepared for a Little Chill
Bring a sweater, blankets, or someone to snuggle with. Like most Southern California days, it’ll be warm until the sun sets, and then you’ll want something (or someone) to keep you warm.
3. Bring a Chair or a Blanket to Sit On
There will only be chairs for rent at the Santa Monica Pier – but they go fast.
4. Pack a Picnic or Plan to Pick Up Something On-Site
There are restaurants at Santa Monica Pier and local food trucks at South Gate Park.
5. Drink Responsibly
Los Angeles magazine is hosting a Wine Terrace at the pier (purchase tickets to that here) There is no alcohol permitted at South Gate Park.
