Isaiah Morgan as Gherardino and Plácido Domingo as the title character in Gianni Schicchi (2015)

One of the busiest stars currently gracing the LA Opera stage in Gianni Schicchi is only 10. The triple-threat (actor, singer, dancer) plays Gherardino, the son of one of the scheming Donati family members. Besides being in his debut at the opera this season, Isaiah is also an avid YouTuber with his own channel and he’s been featured in several commercials, including ABC Mouse. Check out his latest cover of Justin Bieber’s “What Do You Mean?”

When asked about his experience at LA Opera, Isaiah is all smiles. He loves opera and definitely wants to do another production. Below are a few questions with this budding little musical sensation:

LAO: What is it like working with Plácido Domingo in Gianni Schicchi?

IM: It is very cool working with Plácido Domingo, because he is very kind and he motivates us all with his great and encouraging speeches.

LAO: What’s your favorite part of Gianni Schicchi?

IM: I have to say my favorite part of Gianni Schicchi is at the end when I run out, scream “GIANNI,” and put my arms around him.

LAO: Do you want to be in other operas in the future?

IM: I would really like to be in other operas in the future. I have learned a lot and have had a great time with the cast!

LAO: What do you want to be when you grow up?

IM: When I grow up I really want to be a chemical scientist and I also want to be an entertainer, like a singer or an actor.
